A Nyugdíjbiztosítási Székház első szárnyát 1913-ban építették az akkori Budapest Kerületi Munkásbiztosító Pénztár épületének, a második szárnyát és tornyát pedig az akkor már Országos Társadalombiztosító Intézet (OTI) számára 1931-ben adták át. Az épület tervezői a korszak méltán híres építészei: Komor Marcell és Jakab Dezső. A késő-szecessziós stílusú épület számos érdekességgel rendelkezik: ez volt annak idején az első budapesti felhőkarcoló, több új építészeti technológiát itt alkalmaztak elsőként, és kezdetektől fogva a társadalombiztosítás hivatali szerveinek szolgált székházául. Jelenleg is a nyugdíjbiztosítási ágazat intézményei működnek itt.

A 2026. szeptember 19-én, szombaton 9 és 11 órakor kezdődő programon kiderül hogyan alakult a magyar társadalombiztosítás székházának sorsa, hogyan segített egy magyar tűzoltótiszt találmánya Budapest első felhőkarcolójának megépítésében, miért kellett a tornyot visszabontani, hová tűntek a torony több méteres szobrai, miért kellett egy szakasz rendőrt kivezényelni a közeli rendőrlaktanyából és milyen "veszedelmes bűnözők" látogatták egykor az épület várócsarnokait! Description in English

The first wing of the Pension Insurance Office was built in 1913 for the building of the then Budapest District Workers’ Insurance Fund, and the second wing and the tower were built in 1931. The designers of the building are the well-known architects of the era: Komor Marcell and Jakab Dezső. The building in the late Art Nouveau style has many interesting features: it was the first skyscraper in Budapest at the time, several new architectural technologies were used here for the first time, and from the beginning it served as the headquarters of the social security offices.

If you would like to know how the fate of the headquarters of the Hungarian Social Security took shape, and how the invention of a Hungarian firefighter helped build Budapest's first skyscraper, and why the tower had to be dismantled, what happened with the tower's sculptures, or if you are wondering why a squad of police officers had to be sent out to from the nearby police barracks, as well as what "dangerous criminals" once visited the building's waiting halls, then we look forward to seeing you!
